OROVILLE

JUNE 18, 2018

Hey Family!!! Sorry it has taken me so long to get an email out, but I made it to Oroville!! Everyone in the mission thinks it is like the most ghetto place in the mission and often times people don't want to come here, but honestly I have loved it so far!! Our apartment is a little bit bigger than the one in Wheatland. We're in the same complex with 2 other sets of elders (Elder Bishop is the zone leader, love that guy). We have all the basic necessities that Wheatland sometimes lacked... like lots of good places to eat, lots of places to go shopping, lots of good stuff. The branch here is so awesome too! That's probably the best part, we only do Hmong work, and the Hmong branch is a little bit bigger here. Everyone isn't one big family too, which is a lot different. And, on top of that, everyone speaks White Hmong!! Which is great, because that is so much easier to understand! There's just so much I could talk about. I'm gonna try to just get the highlights.

Transferred on Tuesday, it was really sad to say goodbye to Elder Vang. We mostly just like did some service and shopped and what not. Visited a less active family and gave 2 blessings to some little kids, all in Hmong. So that was pretty cool. I really like giving blessings in Hmong.

Wednesday was district meeting, first time leading it out. It went well from my perspective, haha. We really have a great district. Everyone is really wanting to work hard and it's great. We made some good goals, and by the end of the week we had hit all of our goals ... even though Elder Gunsay and I didn't have anyone come to sacrament and didn't find any new investigators... so the district is awesome.

Also, we have some pretty good investigators that we're working with. They're fairly promising, and hopefully we will help some of them get on date this week.

We don't have too many dinners up here, which is kinda sad. But there's not very many Hmong members here, so that's ok. We have a grill here, so I grill a lot of chicken, which is nice, haha.

Other highlights, we ate with the branch president and they served us chicken feet, pictured below. Probably the weirdest thing I've eaten now, haha. It was alright. That was on Saturday night. They asked us to speak in sacrament the next day. So we did, and then I was the one who taught Gospel Doctrine, so that was fun, haha. I felt like I had the gift of tongues while I was teaching. I could just understand everyone a lot better... probably cuz they speak white Hmong, haha.

I can't remember much else, but shoot me whatever questions you have, haha. Love you guys!!

Love, Elder Muaj Koob
