WEEK 2 IN OROVILLE

JUNE 25, 2018

Hey family!!! Hope you're all doing well. I'd give this past week a solid 11/10. Well, maybe like a 9 yog kuv hais tiag tiag. But things are good here in Oroville cuz it's lots of fun and there's lots of Hmong people. This past week we took a ton of time for finding, and we only found like 1 new person to teach... and they weren't very promising. But that is ok, because we've been working hard. On Wednesday, we had the assistants come to our area, and Elder Goodman came to our district meeting. It was awesome. I love that guy. The AP's gave us a challenge to pass out a whole box of Book of Mormons as a zone that day, so that was like 7 BoMs each... we got out like 4, which was really good, haha. Wednesday night we had a dinner too, which was nice. Not too many dinners here, but it's ok because I like to be able to eat what I want. But at that dinner we had crabby, which is a fish Hmong people love to eat... except they just like took the entire fish and deep fried it and threw it out there to eat. We just used our hands, and there was a bunch of bones, haha.. it was actually really good, I just wasn't good at eating it because of the bones, so they thought I didn't like it, haha. I don't know why, we just get a bunch of weird food up here in Oroville, haha. Thursday, Elder Gunsay wasn't really feeling it. One thing I realized between my time away from him is that he gets frustrated/angry fairly easily. It's good though, cuz I know when he is frustrated and I know what to do, haha, so we get along well.

But anyway, on Thursday, we decided to make some flyers and just drop them off door to door, cuz like we've tried knocking doors so much. We basically just hit as many Hmong houses as we could. Hopefully someone will contact us. Friday we weekly planned and taught our Hmong class. It's really cool because we have a family of 3 who come who aren't members, and so that was really cool. Then Saturday, I went on exchanges with Elder Bradfield in my district. We came out together. We had a really good meeting with a member to help them share the gospel. It was awesome. Also, had a dinner with the English ward, and of course they wanted to go to a Chinese restaurant, hahahah. I just cant escape Asian food.

Sunday was really cool. We had branch council, so all of the stake members came there. On Friday, Elder Gunsay felt like we needed to work more with the less active members, cuz there are a ton in this area. Then on Sunday, after church we had a branch coordination meeting, and all of the leaders from the stake and branch felt like we needed to work more with the less active members as well. So it was cool to see how we received like some revelation before they actually told us. So I'm really pumped for this upcoming week and the opportunity to help the less active members. We also had a less active named Bee come with us to church this past Sunday too! He has come for the past 2 weeks I've been here, and before that, he hadn't been to church in years. Also, found out from Elder Vang that the Xiong family decided they are just going to be baptized because that's what they want for their family and they know it's true, even if his dad doesn't want him to!!! So that is so awesome, cuz I love them so much! Also, another family Elder Gunsay and I had worked with a little back in Wheatland decided they wanted to be baptized too, so they have a lot going on down there and it's nice to see that my work down there is at least paying off for them. Makes me feel good, knowing that even if I didn't see the fruits, my work was still valuable.

In other news, we played a huge game of Catan with everyone and I won, haha. I still got some of my catan skills. Also, ELder Gunsay is really lonely. Anna, Nat and Sarah ... can you guys write him a letter? I think that would make him really happy, haha. Love you guys!!!

Love, Elder Muaj Koob
 Played scrabble in Hmong too

Here's a huge thaj neeb we saw in someones house this past week. It was cool because they are old culture but they still wanted us to pray for them.
