Hey family! This past week was pretty good! Kind of short on time today because we are having a BBQ at the stake center for preparation day today! It should be pretty fun, and since we are the only missionaries with a truck, we were in charge of picking up the grill from a member, so short on time...
But anyway, this past week seemed to go by so quick. I've been feeling lately like we've been working really hard and have been really busy, but it has seemed like we haven't been getting anything done... which is ok I guess, cuz I think we're really trying our best to work hard and effectively.
Tuesday we had a lesson with an old Hmong grandma again, her name is Ntxawm. Cool story, so last time we had invited her to like pray to know if the Book of Mormon is true, and so we got back and asked her how it went and she told us this story: She went outside and knelt down and prayed, and she held the Book of Mormon in her left hand, and the Restoration pamphlet we gave to her in her right hand... and then, she prayed to know which book was true. Something got lost in the translation, hahahaha. We obviously explained something a little off, but hey, from our perspective, it was a win-win. So after she prayed she went to sleep and she had this super weird dream and basically felt like she got her answer that it was the right one, which was the restoration pamphlet. So we tried to help her see that that means that Joseph Smith is a true prophet, and we invited her to come to church, but she can't come because she has to take care of her husband who is really super old. But that's ok, one obstacle at a time.
Also had interviews with President this past week, which was awesome. He just always tells me exactly what I need to do better, like holy cow I love that guy so much. Then Sunday was stake conference, so we got to hear him speak and man it was just so awesome. Stake conference was really good, focused on ministering to the one and not being so focused on the numbers and what not.
We had one of our members bring her non-member husband, so that was cool. Also, we found a new investigator this past week; he was a former that Elder Gunsay and I were never able to meet with. So that's promising. Lots of good stuff going on in the area right now, even though nobody is on date. That's been the struggle for the whole zone though. We haven't even had 1 baptism in like 2 months, but we will just keep working hard! Also, we are going to go to Kennith's piano recital to support him tonight, so that will be cool.
I don't know if I have much else. We had a good lesson with Juan this past week. He isn't really progressing now though, hasn't been keeping commitments, and so we brought a member and had a real solid lesson. The Xiong's are still doing well. Also had another way cool lesson with a different Hmong grandma. We taught her how to pray and she did for the first time. So that was cool. The Lord is really blessing us, even if the key indicators don't necessarily reflect it...
Love you guys, have a great week!!
Love,
Elder Muaj Koob
Here's a cool picture of the plan of salvation that me and Kennith drew.
